'One week after the single release of “Closer To Real”, Iris present their fourth studio album “Blacklight”. “Blacklight” is the first studio album since “Wrath”, which was released five years ago. In between, the band released the remix album “Hydra” in 2008 including a documentary DVD with interviews, live clips and more. Enough said, I will get straight to it.
With “Blacklight”, US-based Iris presents another masterpiece. Even though the album only features nine tracks I get the feeling that every song have been worked out to it farthest and that the band really pushed to boundaries when creating the album. As I mentioned in my review of the single the music is a lot more electronic compared to previous albums but that recognizable Iris-touch is still there.
“Closer To Real” have grown even more since my single review and the band couldn’t picked a better opener for this album but be sure not to miss out new favorites like “X Wires”, “Disintegrate” or the catchy “Red Right Return”. “Blacklight” represents amazing hymns of well done songwriting and professional production from Andrew Sega and the result is this nine track album of great electropop with cool rhythms. Iris fans will definately not get disappointed as well as new ones will surely take this to their minds. “Blacklight” already feels like a classic with its timeless sound together with Reagan Jones poignant voice.'
