'Peter Bjargo has released a splendid solo album with A Wave of Bitterness. A Wave of Bitterness opens with the melancholic ambient piece ‘Iuana’, followed immediately by the title track that with percussion and instrumentation reminds of the Dead Can Dance work of Brendan Perry. In ‘Useless Retrospective’ the music of Bjargo sounds even more introspective. The melodic sounds that almost seem to float ensure a magical feel. ‘A Choice of Silence’ then again obviously connects to the world music sound of the later Arcana albums. In ‘Insomnia’ and ‘A Slow Wave’ Bjargo chooses for again ambient sounds. A musical atmosphere which is dominant on this album, sometimes with added exotic percussion, but more often mystical and ritual in atmosphere. With that Bjargo touches the best works of Dead Can Dance, like is illustrated most with the two best tracks ‘VI’ and ‘Imprisonment of the Mind’. In ‘Withdrawal’ it really is striking to notice how good the vocals of Bjargo actually are. Peter Bjargo presents a different musical side with A Wave of Bitterness which reaffirms the exceptional talent of this musician and producer. It seems that new material of Sophia, the martial industrial project, will come soon as well. So, we’d better keep a close eye on that.'
