Спокойный, приятный альбом, тяготеющий в большей степени к эмбиенту. Доля мартиала относительно невелика, ну а к power electronics можно отнести лишь последнюю композицию, записанную собратьями по сплиту совместно.
'“This album is dedicated to all who lived and died without giving up of your thoughts, and ideas. Hails the heathen resistance!”
While it seems slightly confusing to me why two bands from South America would embrace a philosophy that was born in Germanic culture is beyond me, but their hatred for the modern ways and love for heathen/pagan traditions overrides any kind of contradictions that could arise from this. This split is the second release from British label Heidenwut Productions and features two electronic artists who are of a pagan/heathen mindset and background. The title of the release is fitting: Black Sun is Rising. For those not historically inclined, Wikipedia defines the Black Sun as such:
“The term Black Sun (German Schwarze Sonne), also referred to as the Sonnenrad (the German for "Sun Wheel"), is a symbol of esoteric or occult significance, notable for its usage in Nazi mysticism. Today, it may also be used in occult currents of Germanic neopaganism, and in Irminenschaft or Armanenschaft-inspired esotericism. “
Why this is significant? The burnt out sun represents an opposing force or pole, which is exactly what these two artists are. They are representatives of today's radical side of pagan culture whom are seeking the downfall of not only the the Christian plague and the recarnation of our heathenistic values, but of modern society itself. Argentum and Sigvegr envision a world where living an honorable life is once again possible, where the schisms of mankind play no greater a role in our lives than the very air we breathe. Surely there will always be politics and religious generalities, but that doesn't mean that they have to be at the same level we see them today. The destruction of modern society is inevitable, however rather than the complete destruction of man these two musicians see a world that our children can grow and prosper in. A world not run by politicians and religious fanatics, but by free men.
The music itself is well written, but unfortuantely both bands suffer from lack of proper equipment. If you can get past the cheesey-sounding keyboard passages, Black Sun is Rising really can be an enjoyable and warming experience. Argentum seems to specialize more in the martial side of ambience while Sigvegr has their hands deep in the atmosphereic realm, utilizing vocal samples to their advantage. It is also worth noting that both bands seem to oppose each other elementally, with Argentum using rain and thus water samples, and Sigvegr using crackling fire with their side. While this may not have been meant, it certainly makes for an interesting thought process while listening. For Sigvegr's side, you'll also notice a hip hop song in the background during Rivolta Contro il mondo Moderno, and while I know this served some purpose that I'm just not seeing, it really was more annoying than helpful for the atmosphere.
All in all this was a fairly interesting experience and a unique listen. I'd recommend this to any fans of nazi-history, pagan/martial/wartime ambience, or of just straight up strange militaristic music.'
